Tim Browning was commissioned as the 15th Headmaster of St Peter’s College in Term 1, 2018. Tim has a distinguished career in both coeducational and boys’ education settings. He was formerly Deputy Headmaster and Head of Senior School at Cranbrook School in Sydney. His previous roles include Head of Senior Years at The Scots College in Sydney, Director of Boarding at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) in Brisbane, and Senior Boarding Housemaster at Geelong Grammar School.
Tim was born in Warialda and grew up in the northern tablelands of NSW in a family of 5 siblings. He attended Armidale School as a boarder from age 12 until he graduated in 1988 and was a keen sportsman, playing cricket and rugby, and participating in track and field, shooting and was heavily involved in music.
Tim attended the University of Queensland, obtaining Honours in Mechanical Engineering and commenced his first teaching role at a new school on the Sunshine Coast: Matthew Flinders Anglican College, Buderim.
In addition to a Bachelor of Engineering, Tim possesses a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and Master of Educational Studies, all from the University of Queensland. He has also previously held the position of Director of the Australian Boarding Schools Association.
Tim is a strong believer in the holistic education of every child, is passionate about sports, music and the arts. As an educational leader he is particularly interested in the craft of teaching and is keen to support teachers in pursuing their passions and striving toward excellence.
